Sub Acute Admissions Coordinator (Hospital Setting) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sub Acute Admissions Coordinator to support patient intake, insurance verification, and authorization processes within a fast-paced hospital environment. This role is critical to ensuring accurate patient account setup, timely authorizations, and a seamless patient experience from admission through care coordination. Key Responsibilities * Manage sub-acute patient admissions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all intake information * Verify patient insurance coverage, determine authorization requirements, and secure approvals for treatment and bed placement * Utilize EPIC to complete patient intake, update/verify demographics, and maintain accurate records * Process authorizations, referrals, and claims, ensuring compliance with payer requirements * Identify services requiring prior authorization and coordinate with providers and payers accordingly * Verify insurance types and benefits, including: * HMO vs. PPO plans * Medicare and Medi-Cal * Collect co-pays and educate patients on financial responsibility and shared costs * Communicate with case managers, physician offices, and external healthcare facilities to coordinate admissions and care transitions * Collaborate with internal departments across multiple locations to support operational needs * Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, and internal stakeholders both in person and over the phone * Apply knowledge of medical terminology to support accurate documentation and communication Qualifications * 3+ years of healthcare experience in a hospital setting (REQUIRED) * Prior experience in admissions, patient access, or insurance verification preferred * Strong knowledge of insurance processes, authorizations, and referrals * Hands-on experience with EPIC (preferred) * Familiarity with Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or sub-acute environments is a plus * Bilingual Spanish (preferred) * Excellent communication and customer service skills * Ability to manage high-volume workflows and multi-department coordination Skills * Customer Service Excellence * Insurance Verification & Authorizations * Patient Intake & Registration * Healthcare Systems (EPIC) * Medical Terminology * Cross-Functional Communication * Attention to Detail & Accuracy #PriorityWest Experience Level Expert Level Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Los Alamitos, CA.
