G&C Professional 1 - G&C Generalist

Position Overview
This position provides primary operational support for North Central SARE grant programs. The role manages the end-to-end workflow for application cycles across six programs, including compliance screening, reviewer recruitment, and panel coordination. Additionally, the position handles routine financial logistics for review committees and supports the tracking of approximately 200 annual grantee reports to ensure alignment with program requirements. Operating within established protocols, the position ensures all grant management, financial, and reporting outcomes meet institutional standards.

Major Areas of Responsibility
Proposal Review & Panel Coordination (40%)
* Reviewer Management: Assist Administrative Associate 2 and program coordinators in
identifying and orienting reviewers, as well as schedule review meetings and manage reviewer communication to ensure timely submission on review materials and administrative paperwork.
* Meeting Support: Assistant in preparing ranking summaries and reviewer comments for panel discussions; provide technical and logistical support for virtual and in-person review meetings.
* Feedback Integration: Analyze and aggregate feedback from review processes to support
program coordinators, including inputting and formatting reviewer reviews into the grant
management system.
Financial & Administrative Support (25%)
* Stakeholder Support: Act as the primary point of contact for operational and administrative
questions, redistributing them to regional or other institutional staff.
* Logistics Support: Prepare and process non-employee payment requests and travel payments for Administrative Council and review committee members, in coordination with the G&C Professional 2.
* Budget Compliance: Review subaward invoices and payment requests, ensuring expenditures align with University and SARE policies, escalating discrepancies to the G&C Professional 2.
* Reporting Assistance: Identify internal reporting needs and prepare routine data summaries regarding grant application volume and reviewer participation for the G&C Professional 2.
* Problem Solving: Identify and resolve routine technical problems using established procedures, with progress and outcomes reviewed by the G&C Professional 2 or program coordinators.
Grant Cycle & Application Management (20%)
* Workflow Implementation: Collaborate with program coordinators to implement annual
application cycles and align the grant management system with current Calls for Proposals.
* Compliance Screening: Perform initial compliance screening of applications to ensure materials provide the necessary inputs to meet institutional eligibility and meet regulatory guidelines.
* System Tracking: Coordinate with the G&C Professional 2 on the routing of proposals and award modifications in MN-GEMS and track progress Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA).
Grantee Reporting & Tracking (15%)
* Report Oversight: Support program coordinators in the tracking of approximately 200 annual and final grantee reports, including sending reporting reminders and follow up for overdue reports.
* Report Review: Support program coordinators in reviewing reports to ensure alignment with the original proposal and other program requirements to help expedite report approval.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years. Experience applying knowledge and skills to recurring tasks with a high emphasis on precision, accuracy, and meeting tight deadlines. Previous experience in grant processing or sponsored project management, including familiarity with grant management software.

Preferred Qualifications:
One or more years of experience directly assisting faculty or stakeholders in navigating complex grant application processes. Proven ability to interpret and apply institutional, state, and federal regulations related to research and sponsored projects. Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel.
Strong interpersonal skills.
