HVAC Technician - JLL What this job involves:

As an HVAC Technician at JLL, you'll be at the heart of our building operations, ensuring the mechanical systems and infrastructure in a mixed lab and office environment run smoothly and efficiently. This is a hands-on role where you'll apply your technical expertise across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems while maintaining the highest safety standards in laboratory and office settings. Your work directly impacts our client's ability to operate safely and productively, making you an essential part of our facilities team. This position offers the opportunity to expand your technical skills while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Maintain and repair building mechanical systems including HVAC equipment (Chillers, AHUs, RTUs, Fan coils), pumps, motors, and exhaust fans to ensure optimal performance and occupant comfort.

Complete preventive maintenance tasks, facility tours, and work orders in a timely manner using the web-based work order system, documenting all activities and closing out assignments efficiently.

Service specialized laboratory equipment including fume hoods, bio safety cabinets, vacuum pumps, compressors, and dedicated exhaust systems while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning HVAC coils, changing filters and belts, replacing lighting and ballasts, and conducting basic plumbing repairs (sinks, faucets, toilets).

Conduct facility inspections and report on conditions impacting client occupancy and operations, completing hazard assessments and escalating issues to management when necessary.

Maintain boilers, hot water systems, basic electrical systems (UPS, generators, lighting controls), and perform general interior maintenance and light carpentry as needed.

Comply with all safety procedures and PPE requirements, practice defensive driving, attend required safety meetings and trainings, and ensure proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of building mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, motors, chillers, AHUs, RTUs, fan coils, and associated exhaust fans with demonstrated hands-on experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication and documentation purposes.
  • Ability to complete required safety trainings, understand and follow PPE requirements, signage, and comply with State, County, or City ordinances, codes, and laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in laboratory or mixed-use facilities with understanding of specialized systems and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of boiler operations, hot water systems, and basic electrical troubleshooting including UPS and generator maintenance.
  • Familiarity with fume hood certification, bio safety cabinet maintenance, or other laboratory equipment servicing.
  • Experience with web-based work order management systems and computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Basic carpentry skills and ability to perform minor building repairs and modifications.
Location: Onsite Work Shift: Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:30pm

Estimated compensation for this position:

89,000.00 - 92,250.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
