JOB MISSION:

As a Senior Footwear Product Engineer in the Inline Engineering team, you will lead product engineering efforts and develop new products with the Product Creation team across all categories. You will plan, drive, and validate these products to bring them from an initial idea to a commercial ready stage.You will develop valuable experience working with designers, developers, sports researchers and product managers. You will also work across the company with innovation, materials, sourcing, quality and legal teams. You will utilize your knowledge of engineering, materials, costing, and manufacturing processes to help you deliver great results. You will learn new skills as New Balance continues to transform our product and processes to be more digital and drive great consumer experiences.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work with our cross functional teams to engineer new technical products that athletes and consumers love.

  • Works closely with the athletes and product teams to understand performance/consumer needs. Communicate clearly and purposefully with overseas teams and partners to drive the products forward.

  • Advises the team on a wide range of technical development issues including plastics engineering, molding and costing.

  • Coordinates and leads comprehensive design/technology review meetings with the extended teams to find, discuss, and resolve areas of concern

  • Provides solutions that effectively balance cost, manufacturability, and design

  • Develops, improves and adheres to category best practices and standards

  • Create, communicate and track development timelines to ensure milestones are met and advises on feasibility and applicability of technology to the cross functional teams.

  • Performs or directs the physical testing of engineered components and creates product specifications and tech packages.

  • Identifies issues, clearly communicates the problem internally/externally and offers solutions to course correct in a timely manner.

  • Domestic and International travel may be required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • A graduate degree in Engineering, Material Science, Biomechanics, or related discipline with an emphasis on consumer products and knowledge or plastics & molding.

  • 9+ years professional experience, in a technical role, preferably in the footwear industry.

  • Fully versed in total shoe build, including how each material and process performs in the overall shoe construction

  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and organization skills with the ability and willingness to work in a team-oriented, creative environment.

  • Excellent PC skills, i.e. spreadsheet, database, field-related software, and word processing. Proficient with CAD software, i.e. Rhino, Solidworks.

  • Ability to effectively balance work in-person and remotely to fit with New Ways of Working.

  • A successful candidate will be curious, open minded, always up for a challenge.

  • Some domestic and international travel required.

Lawrence, MA Corp Only Pay Range: $99,700.00 - $129,000.00 - $158,300.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)

Flexible Work Schedule

Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year.
