THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is looking for a dedicated Fiscal Assistant to help manage billing and financial records. In this role, you will handle important tasks that support daily office operations. You will gain valuable experience while working in a steady and purposeful environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily work of a Reimbursement Office by handling billing, records, and financial transactions. The role helps keep accurate accounts and ensures proper processing of payments and reports. As a Fiscal Assistant, you will perform the following duties:

  • Account Maintenance: Update client information in billing and accounting systems to keep records accurate
  • Billing Preparation: Prepare and send bills to insurance providers, agencies, and responsible parties for services provided
  • Payment Processing: Receive payments, record receipts, and prepare daily deposits while safeguarding funds
  • Financial Posting: Post charges, payments, and adjustments to accounts and follow up on rejected or disputed payments
  • Report Preparation: Gather data and assist in creating financial reports for review and submission
  • Eligibility Support: Process requests for Medical Assistance eligibility and follow up with appropriate offices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. You must report to the office 2 days per week. In-office training dates will be determined by the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Torrance. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
