THE POSITION

Start your career with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! The Department of General Services is seeking a dependable Custodial Worker 1 for the Harrisburg Regional Division. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Harrisburg Regional Division by keeping offices, restrooms, and public areas clean and orderly. It plays a key role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Restroom Cleaning: Sweep floors, mop surfaces, wash mirrors, clean fixtures, and maintain needed supplies
  • Office Upkeep: Dust furniture, polish surfaces, clean equipment, and remove trash and recycling materials
  • Floor Care: Dust, mop, vacuum, remove spills, and operate equipment for washing, buffing, and refinishing floors
  • Window and Surface Cleaning: Clean windows, blinds, partitions, baseboards, doors, and other building surfaces
  • Equipment Maintenance: Select proper cleaning agents, care for tools, perform minor repairs, and report major repair needs
  • Outdoor Care: Sweep entrances and sidewalks, remove snow and ice, and spread deicing materials

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Essential employee - required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
