Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research team working on advanced plasma processing technologies for metallurgical applications. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on plasma-assisted extraction, refining, recycling, and high-temperature processing of metals and materials. The position offers the opportunity to work at the interface of plasma physics, materials science, and sustainable metallurgy, with access to state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities. Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on plasma-based metallurgical processing
- Design, operate, and optimize plasma reactor systems and high-temperature experiments
- Characterize processed materials using advanced analytical techniques
- Develop process models and analyze plasma-material interactions
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
- Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
- Contribute to proposal writing and collaborative research initiatives
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Plasma Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong background in high-temperature processing, plasma systems, or extractive metallurgy
- Experience with experimental research and data analysis
- Demonstrated publication record in relevant scientific fields
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with thermal plasma systems, arc plasmas, or plasma diagnostics
- Knowledge of metal extraction, recycling, or decarbonization technologies
- Familiarity with computational modeling or simulation tools
- Experience working in interdisciplinary or industrial research environments
