Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research team working on advanced plasma processing technologies for metallurgical applications. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on plasma-assisted extraction, refining, recycling, and high-temperature processing of metals and materials. The position offers the opportunity to work at the interface of plasma physics, materials science, and sustainable metallurgy, with access to state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on plasma-based metallurgical processing
  • Design, operate, and optimize plasma reactor systems and high-temperature experiments
  • Characterize processed materials using advanced analytical techniques
  • Develop process models and analyze plasma-material interactions
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
  • Contribute to proposal writing and collaborative research initiatives
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Plasma Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in high-temperature processing, plasma systems, or extractive metallurgy
  • Experience with experimental research and data analysis
  • Demonstrated publication record in relevant scientific fields
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with thermal plasma systems, arc plasmas, or plasma diagnostics
  • Knowledge of metal extraction, recycling, or decarbonization technologies
  • Familiarity with computational modeling or simulation tools
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary or industrial research environments
