The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Global Procurement Lead. The Global Procurement Lead is responsible for implementing category strategies for assigned categories, supplier relationship management, leading contract negotiations, optimizing total cost, mitigating risk, and managing supplier selection and performance. This role leads productivity and sourcing initiatives and aligns procurement decisions with business objectives through strong market insight, commercial expertise, and crossfunctional leadership. The position partners with functional teams to support continuous improvement, supplier changes, new product launches, and strategic business reviews.

This position will be onsite in San Diego, CA.

The Responsibilities
  • Supplier Relationship Manager - Own supplier relationship management for strategic suppliers, including performance metrics, scorecards, and business reviews. Monitor supplier capacity, resolve escalated supply issues, and ensure adherence to supplier governance and Approved Supplier List standards.

  • Negotiations - Serve as lead negotiator for complex, highvalue sourcing initiatives. Apply strong business and financial acumen to balance cost, quality, delivery, and risk in all commercial decisions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Partner with Supply Chain, R&D, Product Management, Quality, and Finance to align sourcing decisions with operational and financial priorities. Influence crossfunctional decisionmaking to drive value, compliance, and service performance.

  • Continuous Improvement & Productivity -

  • Identify and execute productivity and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with sourcing and business strategies, such as cost reduction, inventory optimization, yield improvement, and supplier process enhancements.

  • New Product Introduction & Innovation Support - Execute sourcing and supplier strategies that support new product development, ensuring technical, cost, quality, and innovation objectives are met.

  • Category Strategy - Implement category strategies for finished goods contract manufacturing and or other assigned categories. Manage a strategic supplier portfolio to ensure supply continuity, manage total cost, identify risks, and monitor market conditions for opportunities and threats.

  • Supply Agreements and RFI/RFP's - Lead and participate in RFIs/RFPs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations across multiple sites and business units. Execute and manage supply agreements, ensuring compliance with delivery, capacity, cost, quality, and changemanagement requirements.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement / Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement.

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including total cost of ownership (TCO), cost modelling, and supplier economics.

  • Demonstrated experience managing suppliers and leading supplier performance initiatives.

  • Proven ability to partner with cross functional stakeholders.

  • Commodity market awareness - indices tracking, market development

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent business communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Exposure to global sourcing and multi regional supply markets.

  • Experience supporting new product launches, supplier transitions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Formal training or certification (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, MBA).

The Key Working Relationships

Internal Partners:

Supply Chain, Commercial, R&D, Tech Ops, Quality & Regulatory, Finance and Legal

External Partners:

Supplier relationship manager, negotiate contracts and business reviews.

The Work Environment

Office or home based, approximately 10% travel, flexibility with working hours due to global nature of role (e.g. accommodating calls with different time zones if needed).

The Physical Demands

Typically, 40% of time in meetings; 50% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work and 10% travel to work related events. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $ 89,008.92 - $110,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
