Position overview:

The primary objective of the pathologist is to support cardiac tissue donation by providing a detailed report of pathologic findings on residual donor heart tissue. The cardiac pathology report provides critical data required by the medical examiner performing an autopsy on the heart valve donor.

Responsibilities:



  1. The Pathologist is a licensed physician with specialized training in anatomic pathology who will perform pathologic examinations in compliance with applicable regulations and standard operating procedures.
  2. The Pathologist will communicate significant pathologic findings directly to medical examiners and other health care professionals when
  3. The Pathologist will provide professional representation on behalf of Artivion at national Medical Examiner and Coroner meetings, as needed.
  4. The Pathologist will perform pathology examinations and provide consultative assistance for other Artivion departments as needed in support of ongoing research and/or quality initiatives.
  5. The Pathologist will serve as a licensed physician designee authorized to perform a medical review of tissue donor records and determine donor eligibility as required by 21 CFR 1271 regulations and AATB Standards.


Qualifications:



  • The Pathologist must have a MD or DO degree with successful completion of a post-graduate training program in anatomic pathology.
  • Experience in cardiovascular pathology, autopsy pathology, and/or forensic pathology is desired.
  • The Pathologist must maintain a valid US license.



This position is based out of Artivion's corporate headquarters in Kennesaw, Georgia.
