Overview

The Tax Staff Accountant will work within the firm's Tax Department, primarily supporting Tax Seniors in the preparation of tax work papers, estimated tax schedules for U.S. state tax filings, *1446 reporting, and non-resident partner withholdings. This role involves collaboration across all offices in the firm's global footprint and offers meaningful exposure to the tax compliance and reporting functions of a top-tier international law firm.



Responsibilities

    Prepare tax work papers for federal, state, and international partnership filings.
  • Prepare estimated tax payment vouchers for recording by partner into Firm's accounting software.
  • Maintain Passthrough Entity Tax (PTET) and composite tax schedules by partner.
  • Prepare *1446 schedules for non-resident partners.
  • Coordinate with Tax Seniors and local office staff to ensure consistency of tax work papers globally.
  • Prepare and file jurisdiction-specific returns such as LA Gross Receipts, Washington B&O, DC Ballpark Fee, and sales and use tax returns.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Approximately one to three years of experience with U.S. partnership tax compliance, including federal and state filings, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Passthrough Entity Tax (PTET) filings and computation requirements is a plus.
  • Law firm or financial services background preferred; Big 4 public accounting experience also welcomed.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. A Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.

Compensation - The anticipated base salary range offered for this role will be between $65,000 to $85,000 and represents the Firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base compensation range. Actual base compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, performance, qualifications, degrees, and location, as well as the needs of the firm.
