About the Role:

Pillars of Grand Rapid is seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Maintenance Assistant. As a key member of the team, you will assist the Maintenance Director in the upkeep of facilities, performing routine repairs, work orders, and maintaining an overall safe environment for the residents, guests and team members. If you have a keen eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and a passion for hands-on work, this position is ideal for you!

Maintenance Assistant Job Details:

  • Hours: Tuesday-Friday 8am-4:30p / 32 hours/week

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in property maintenance or a related field
  • Sheetrock Finishing & Painting experience
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain a regular work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Light carpentry & repair
  • Experience working in a multi-unit residential setting
  • Possess a general understanding of OSHA, fire prevention, life and safety regulations
  • Ability to respond occasionally to emergency calls outside of scheduled work hours
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Demonstrates good judgement, problem solving and decision making skills

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of our properties
  • Perform routine inspections of our properties to identify any maintenance issues
  • Complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work with electronic records system
  • Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard and on time

Skills:

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with our maintenance team and residents. You will also use your technical skills to assist with the maintenance and repair of our properties. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will be essential in ensuring that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Additionally, your attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records will be critical in ensuring that our properties are well-maintained and in excellent condition for our residents. Repairing and restoring apartments to like-new condition when residents move out is a primary responsibility of this position.
