Job Summary

Leads the vision, strategy, and execution for the Platform Foundations capability domain within Equinix Engineering Excellence (E3). Owns the product portfolio and long-term roadmap for the foundational platform capabilities that enable secure, portable, scalable, and AI-native workload delivery across hybrid infrastructure environments.

The Platform Foundations domain is responsible for creating the underlying abstractions, controls, automation frameworks, and developer experiences that standardize how infrastructure and workloads are defined, deployed, governed, and operated across cloud, colocation, and on-premises environments.

This leader acts as the single-threaded product owner for the domain strategy, investment priorities, executive inspection narrative, and customer adoption outcomes. They work cross-functionally with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, SRE, AI platform teams, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable improvements in developer productivity, operational resilience, portability, governance, and infrastructure efficiency.

The role requires balancing long-term platform architecture with practical adoption strategies, ensuring that foundational capabilities are discoverable, consumable, and integrated into developer workflows rather than operating as standalone infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities

Capability Domain Strategy & Vision

Defines and evolves the long-term vision, operating model, and roadmap for the Platform Foundations capability domain, including:


  • Unified environment abstraction layers across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructure

  • Infrastructure Control Plane capabilities

  • Workload portability and placement frameworks

  • Runtime adapters and deployment orchestration

  • Infrastructure policy, governance, and guardrails

  • Declarative infrastructure and workload intent models

  • Foundational APIs, platform contracts, and capability discovery services

  • Agent-ready infrastructure interfaces and AI-native platform enablement

  • Establishes strategic direction aligned to Equinix engineering productivity, reliability, cost efficiency, and AI transformation goals


Product Portfolio Ownership

  • Owns a portfolio of foundational platform products and capabilities, including roadmap prioritization, sequencing, dependency management, and adoption strategy. Ensures the portfolio delivers reusable platform leverage across all engineering organizations

Executive Inspection Leadership

  • Partners with engineering leaders to shape and govern the executive inspection process for the Platform Foundations domain. Drives alignment between engineering execution and executive-level business outcomes

Customer & Developer Experience Leadership

  • Represents the needs of developers, infrastructure engineers, SREs, security teams, and platform consumers. Partners with Voice of Developer and adoption programs to continuously refine platform usability and discoverability

Cross-Functional Platform Leadership

  • Works across E3, Infrastructure, Security, SRE, Architecture, and Delivery organizations to align platform strategy and execution. Acts as a connective layer between business priorities, platform architecture, and engineering execution

Financial & Investment Planning

  • Develops business cases and investment strategies for foundational platform capabilities. Understands platform economics, including cost-to-serve, workload efficiency, infrastructure utilization, and engineering leverage models

Product & Adoption Metrics

  • Defines and governs KPIs for Platform Foundations adoption and effectiveness. Uses telemetry and analytics to continuously improve platform experiences and prioritize roadmap investments

Agile Product & Engineering Partnership

  • Partners closely with engineering and architecture leaders to define execution priorities and delivery sequencing. Ensures platform engineering efforts remain outcome-oriented and aligned to enterprise priorities

Qualifications


  • 15+ years of experience in product management, platform engineering, infrastructure strategy, developer platforms, or enterprise architecture

  • Experience leading large-scale platform or infrastructure transformation initiatives

  • Strong understanding of hybrid cloud, infrastructure platforms, developer tooling, and operational reliability models

  • Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations organizations

  • Experience building platform products that improve developer productivity and operational scalability

  • Strong executive communication and strategic planning skills

  • Experience with Agile product operating models and platform portfolio management

  • Familiarity with AI-native development workflows, infrastructure automation, and agent-enabled systems preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred


The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual

Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 182,000 - 272,000 CAD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
