Aids team of preconstruction professionals to develop an internal estimate, engage subcontractors, analyze bids, and compile an estimate.
- Prepare cost estimates for commercial construction projects to aid management in bidding on and determining price of design, build, and consulting services.
- Review Request for Proposals ("RFP") requirements to help determine compliance.
- Prepare detailed budget estimates and cost codes for initial cost control reporting and updating labor cost and summary cost reports utilizing MS Excel.
- Responsible for communicating to estimate lead when deviations exist. Use historical cost data and early design coordination to develop conceptual cost estimate, enabling clients to make informed, early-stage project investment decisions.
- Use bid leveling techniques with Beck Destini, Accubid, or Bluebeam to analyze bids from subcontractors, ensuring comprehensive scope coverage and competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with team of preconstruction professionals to develop estimates, engage subcontractors, analyze bids, and compile estimates.
- Interpret construction drawings and customer specifications utilizing AutoCAD and On-Screen Takeoff to perform quantity take offs for architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing project plans.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Participate in the development of subcontractor bid packages including NDA's, RFP, drawings, scopes-of-work, bid forms, contract attachments, schedules, and site logistics plans.
- Plan and coordinate construction project schedules, utilizing Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Receive quotes and conduct subcontractor analysis. Refine RFP process workflow.
- Assists or manages RFI lists (subcontractor, internal, and/or owner), as required per proposal.
- Assists with the appropriate resources to determine the project specific tax and insurance requirements.
- Helps build and maintain subcontractor relationships. Assists in subcontractor selection.
- Helps develop subcontractor search and communication strategy and helps ensure that the sub engagement team adheres to that strategy.
- Support development of subcontractor and vendor bid list.
- Submit project budget to accounting.
- Work with the Business Diversity Coordinator when proposing on federal or public sector agency projects to develop a Small and/or WMBE business participation engagement plan that complies with project requirements.
- 5% domestic travel required to meet with local subcontractors, bid walks, and attend conferences as necessary.
- Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or directly related field and one (1) year of experience preparing cost estimates for commercial construction projects

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
