Position Title:Pharmacy Manager- Inpatient Department:Pharmacy Job Description:

General Description:

The Manager of Pharmacy - Inpatient is responsible for the daytoday operational leadership of assigned inpatient pharmacy services, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of medications. This role oversees staff performance, workflow execution, inventory and technology systems, and regulatory readiness while collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical teams to support highquality patient care and operational performance.

  • Provides daytoday operational management of assigned inpatient pharmacy services in alignment with hospital goals, standards, and patient care priorities.

  • Oversees pharmacy operations to ensure consistent delivery of highquality, safe, and effective pharmaceutical care.

  • Actively participates in and provides oversight of pharmacyrelated information systems, including the electronic health record, automated dispensing cabinet systems, sterile compounding systems (e.g., TPN), controlled substance inventory systems, and smart pump drug library maintenance.

  • Addresses pharmacyrelated patient care issues through collaboration and communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Maintains oversight of inventory management and supply chain activities for assigned inpatient pharmacy areas.

  • Supervises pharmacy staff, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, performance management, and corrective action as necessary.

  • Supports professional development of staff through delegation, ongoing feedback, counseling, and completion of performance evaluations.

  • Monitors staffing levels across assigned areas and makes recommendations regarding staffing adjustments based on workload, productivity standards, and qualityofcare considerations.

  • Ensures staffing and scheduling practices support operational efficiency, patient safety, and compliance with organizational standards, including monitoring overtime usage to meet established targets.

  • Serves as a preceptor, mentor, or educational resource for new employees, pharmacy students, and trainees as assigned.

  • Maintains clinical and operational competency to perform the duties of a staff pharmacist as needed.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) degree required.

Experience: At least three (3) years of progressive leadership experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Licensure as a Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy required. Applicants without an active Oklahoma Pharmacist License must obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within 18 months of hire.

  • Advanced knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation requirements, and professional practice standards.

  • Demonstrated skill in supervising, coaching, and developing pharmacy staff.

  • Strong management skills, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating departmental operations.

  • Ability to achieve targeted results in a complex, interdisciplinary healthcare environment.

  • Knowledge of safe handling practices and use of personal protective equipment related to hazardous and cytotoxic medications.

  • Strong commitment to service excellence and patientcentered care.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationshipbuilding skills.

  • Strong problemsolving, decisionmaking, and project management abilities.

  • Ability to adapt to changing operational demands while maintaining quality and safety standards.
