Overview
The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist. Provides day-to-day HR support to employees and managers within assigned areas. Assists in the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs under the guidance of senior HR staff. Supports recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations activities, helping to ensure compliance with labor laws and company standards. Contributes to employee engagement initiatives and helps maintain accurate HR records. Works collaboratively with the HR team to deliver consistent, high-quality HR services while continuing to develop HR knowledge and skills.
Work Location and Schedule
The project engineer will be primarily based at our office inCovina, CA.
What You'll Bring
- Serves as the first point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and core programs (e.g., compensation, benefits, performance management, recruiting, and payroll); shares policy updates, supports local HR initiatives, and escalates complex issues as needed.
- Provides full-cycle recruiting support within the business unit. Partners with the HR Business Partner and hiring managers to recruit, screen, interview, and facilitate candidate selection by hiring manager.
- Supports HR projects and initiatives by gathering data, providing administrative support, and assisting senior HR staff with programs related to retention, engagement, succession planning, and recognition.
- Maintains HR data accuracy by entering information into HR systems, reviewing workflows for completeness, and flagging discrepancies for correction; generates reports and documentation as needed.
- Supports managers with routine employee relations matters, including interpreting company policies and addressing day-to-day issues (e.g., attendance, minor performance concerns, and basic policy questions). Escalates disciplinary actions, terminations, and complex matters to senior HR team members for guidance and resolution.
- Leads the local onboarding process from offer and background screening through orientation, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires and an introduction to company culture.
- Reviews and updates local job descriptions to accurately reflect responsibilities, required skills, education/training, and qualifications, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
- Supports employee engagement activities and helps implement programs that foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Coordinates the employee leave process, ensuring documentation and confidentiality are maintained. Partners in the interactive process and recommends reasonable accommodations, as appropriate, in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
What You'll Bring
Experience
- Minimum two to four years of Human Resource experience (including relevant internships), including benefits administration and support, recruiting and onboarding, performance management, employee relations.
- Exposure to, or experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) support is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis in Human Resources or a related field.
Nice to Have
- PHR Certification or Equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Foundational understanding of basic federal, state, and local labor laws, compliance standards, and applicable regulations. Familiarity with documentation for new hires.
- Ability to build relationships with staff and management.
- Attention to detail for maintaining accurate employee records.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee relations matters with empathy and professionalism.
