Our client is a leading Southeastern based services company, delivering technology-based services and best-in-class customer experience to B2B, B2B2C, and B2C channels. With a strong regional footprint, long-tenured leadership, and a culture built on accountability, innovation, and service, the company continues to scale rapidly across operations, technology, and product offerings.

The business has recently invested heavily in modernizing its finance and technology stack - including a full NetSuite ERP implementation, enhancements in billing/subscription processes, and strengthening corporate governance. They are now seeking a Vice President of Accounting & Corporate Controller to lead all accounting operations, drive technical accounting excellence, and build a world-class controllership function capable of supporting aggressive growth.


POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP of Accounting & Corporate Controller will serve as the enterprise leader for all accounting operations, technical accounting, and controllership functions. This is a hands-on, visible executive role overseeing a 30+ person team spanning general ledger, revenue recognition, billing, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, reporting, and compliance.

This role requires deep expertise in ASC 606 (subscription / recurring revenue) and ASC 842 (lease accounting), as well as the ability to strengthen processes, modernize reporting, leverage NetSuite functionality, and partner closely with executive leadership. The Controller will be a strategic business partner to the CFO and play a critical role in helping the organization scale with discipline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Oversight
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a 30+ person accounting organization, including GL, revenue, AP, billing, payroll, fixed assets, and accounting operations.
  • Establish a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional partnership.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CFO on accounting matters, financial controls, and strategic initiatives.
Technical Accounting & Compliance
  • Oversee all ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription/monitoring services, installation revenue, multi-element arrangements, and contract modifications.
  • Lead all ASC 842 lease accounting, including fleet, real estate, equipment, and embedded lease assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close with precision, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos and provide guidance to business stakeholders.
Financial Reporting & Controls
  • Oversee consolidated financial statements, management reporting, variance analysis, and audit support.
  • Strengthen and modernize the internal control framework, including documentation, testing, and enhancement of controls.
  • Partner with FP&A to ensure consistency in reporting, forecasting, and revenue modeling.
Systems, Processes & Transformation
  • Act as executive sponsor for continued optimization of NetSuite, ensuring maximum utilization, strong data integrity, and automation opportunities.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives across close, billing, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Implement scalable accounting workflows to support significant organic growth and potential expansion initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, IT, and Customer Service to align accounting processes with broader business objectives.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Customer Care to ensure accurate billing, contract setup, and revenue treatment.
  • Partner with Treasury, Tax, and Compliance to support broader financial strategy and risk management.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner during planning cycles, system integrations, and business initiatives.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:
  • 12+ years progressive accounting leadership experience, including controllership-level responsibility.
  • Strong command of ASC 606 and ASC 842 in a subscription-based or services business.
  • Prior leadership experience overseeing large teams.
  • Deep experience in US GAAP, internal controls, and complex accounting environments.
  • Successful track record with ERP transformation; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA required; Big 4 or national public accounting foundation preferred.
  • Experience in security services, field-services, technology, telecom, SaaS, subscription services, or other recurring-revenue models is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a growing, evolving, hands-on environment.
