Job Title: Thrift Store Production Associate

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Production Supervisor

Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week Monday- Saturday as set by the weekly schedule

Supervises: None

Rate of Pay: $11/hours

Closing Date: 6/6/2026

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) with at least 21 hours worked per week.


Position Summary

The Thrift Store Associate supports the daily operations of The Salvation Army Thrift Store by sorting incoming donations, evaluating items for quality, preparing merchandise for sale, and maintaining clean, organized retail and production areas. This position ensures efficient processing and a positive shopping experience for customers while upholding The Salvation Army's mission and values.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Donation Handling

    • Sort and evaluate donated goods for quality, cleanliness, and suitability for sale.
    • Assist with unloading donation vehicles and receiving donations from the public.


  • Stocking

    • Stock shelves, racks, and displays to maintain a clean and organized sales area.
    • Rotate inventory to ensure timely movement of merchandise.
    • Provide friendly, helpful customer service as needed.


  • Cleaning and Safety

    • Maintain cleanliness of processing, storage, and retail areas.
    • Follow all safety and operational procedures.

Requirements



  • Background Check

    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies

    • Ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25 pounds, to access and produce information from the computer, to operate telephone, to understand written information
