Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $38.00-$38.00/hour

Tessera is seeking a skilled and reliable Locksmith/General Maintenance Worker III (GM-3) to perform skilled to highly skilled work in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, plumbing, electrical, structural, grounds, and equipment. The Locksmith/GM-3 worker is typically skilled or highly skilled in performing tasks in the majority of the areas listed above and is capable of acting as a technical expert and mentor to other employees in those areas. The Locksmith/GM-3 will also provide specialized locksmith support by installing, repairing, and maintaining locking systems, including safes, vaults, electronic access controls, and master key setups.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including painting, carpentry, siding repair, glass replacement, minor plumbing, masonry, concrete repairs, and minor electrical work.

  • Replace electrical receptacles, switches, fixtures, bathroom exhaust fan motors, and repair or replace sinks, toilets, water coolers, and related fixtures.

  • Patch holes and cracks in walls or ceilings, clean roof drains and gutters, and ensure building systems remain safe and functional.

  • Communicate with customers and supervisors to identify needs, explain additional repairs, and ensure high quality service.

  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints, provide accurate updates to schedulers, and ensure all work meets quality standards.

  • Use handheld electronic devices for documenting work, timekeeping, and managing materials.

  • Diagnose complex maintenance issues and recommend effective repair solutions.

  • Perform specialized locksmith duties, including installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial locks, door hardware, magnetic systems, and automatic doors.

  • Fabricate minor parts, re core and re pin locks, cut keys, change combinations, and provide emergency access services when keys or combinations are unavailable.

  • Maintain locksmith tools and inventory, respond to routine and emergency lock related calls, and keep accurate manual and electronic work order records.

Qualifications:

  • Highschool Diploma/GED is required.

  • Minimum 3 years of closely related experience.

  • Knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work preferred.

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.

  • Hands-on experience in commercial, institutional, or government locksmithing, including installation, maintenance, and repair of locks, door hardware, and access control systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and key schedules.

  • Skilled in master key systems, lock rekeying, and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic locking devices.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
