Job Description

Overall Role Summary

The Academic Partnerships team is responsible for expanding Taylor and Francis's reach and impact within the research communities that we serve, while also driving business growth. Reporting to the VP of Academic Partnerships, this role will build and expand partnerships with research groups, KOLs, research institutions, societies and industry in the US, in alignment with publishing strategy and business priorities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive portfolio growth through academic partnerships, contributing to revenue growth, impact and brand positioning of Taylor and Francis.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for partnerships, conduct outreach, and build relationships with academic institutions, conferences, KOLs, societies and industry. Develop outreach opportunities into a robust pipeline in alignment with strategic goals and business priorities.

    Analyze market demands, competitor content, and audience needs to identify gaps in the portfolio and recommend actionable strategies to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Work crossfunctionally, especially with colleagues in Publishing and Commercial teams, to align initiatives with the broader content and publishing strategy.
  • Stay abreast of scholarly publishing market and industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies and make recommendations for improved partnership and content offerings.
  • Represent Taylor & Francis at industry events and conferences to deepen engagement and visibility within the industry.
  • Build the reputation and credibility of the company as a trusted publisher in key sectors by supporting high-quality content development and forming strategic partnerships.
Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience
    • Comprehensive expertise in scholarly publishing, with deep understanding of publisher-research community dynamics and emerging industry trends
    • Strong background in acquisitions and partnerships
    • Experience of and in-depth knowledge of working with societies, academies, and universities
    • Deep understanding of regional market trends, audience behaviour, and competitor landscape
    • Experience working across multiple content formats and platforms, with a strong understanding of editorial standards and best practices
    • Proven experience in editorial development, content strategy, or a similar editorial leadership role within the regional market
    • Demonstrated success in growing editorial portfolios and driving content strategies that contribute to business growth.
    • Strong network of relevant contacts across the business and externally, with proven networking skills

Additional Information

What we're offering in return:

  • Annual salaryranging from $120,000 - $150,000+ up to %15 annual bonus

  • In-Person Time:The successful candidate will be able to utilize our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within acommutable distance of our office in either Philadelphia or New York to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it onsite3 days per week.
