Quality Engineer - Failure Analysis (Medical Devices)

Location: Valencia, CA (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $51.00-$64.00/hour

Duration: Contract (Extension Possible)

We are hiring a hands-on Quality Engineer - Failure Analysis to support lab-based investigations of mechanical and electro-mechanical medical devices. This role is ideal for engineers with experience in root cause analysis, test method development, and post-market product evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and review failure analysis investigations for returned and non-returned products
• Develop and validate test methods, work instructions (WI), and SOPs
• Train and mentor lab technicians on troubleshooting and root cause techniques
• Analyze product performance trends and investigate non-conformances
• Collaborate with R&D, Design Assurance, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams
• Support complaint handling and post-market surveillance processes
• Create reports, presentations, and documentation for cross-functional reviews (SER/CRB)
• Utilize data tools to identify trends and drive product improvements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 2+ years (Mechanical) or 4+ years (Electrical) of failure analysis experience
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems
• Understanding of RF communication concepts (for electrical-focused candidates)
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Experience in medical device industry preferred
• Familiarity with SAP, Power BI, and post-market systems is a plus

Additional Details:

• Onsite role; initial work in Valencia, followed by temporary assignment in San Diego (travel reimbursed)
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
