Overview

TRC is hiring a Distribution Technician role in Orlando, FL. This position will perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. Portential candidate would Possess an analytical competence to interact with variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers.


Responsibilities

  • Inspection and Assessment:

    • Perform field inspections of utility poles to evaluate suitability for 3rd-party attachments.

    • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies during inspections.

    • Document existing attachments and pole conditions accurately.

    Data Collection and Reporting

    • Collect and record precise measurements, including pole height, spacing, and clearance.

    • Utilize GPS devices or mapping software to log pole locations and attachment data.

    • Prepare detailed reports on pole conditions andattachmentfeasibility.

    Permitting and Compliance:

    • Review and process applications for 3rd-party attachments.

    • Ensure all attachments meetNationalElectric Safety Code (NESC) and local regulatory requirements.

    • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to secure necessary permits.

    Field Work:

    • Mark poles for attachment locations and ensure proper labeling.

    • Conduct pre-attachment and post-attachment inspections to verify compliance.

    • Identifyand report hazards or violations related to pole attachments.

    Communication and Coordination:

    • Collaborate with 3rd-party contractors, utility companies, and internal teams to ensure project success.

    • Providetechnical guidance to contractors regarding attachment specifications.

    • Act as a liaison between the company and 3rd-party entities.

    Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Identifypoles requiring maintenance or replacement due to attachment stress.

    • Assistin coordinating pole replacements or upgrades as needed.

    Safety and Quality Assurance:

    • Adhereto all safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork.

    • Ensure quality control for all attachment installations and inspections.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintainaccuraterecords of inspections, permits, and communications.

    • Update databases with attachment information and pole conditions.

    • Provide regular updates to supervisors and stakeholders on project progress.

    Training and Development:

    • Stay informed on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

    • Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

    Tools and Equipment:

    • Operate handheld devices, mapping software, and inspection tools effectively.

    • Utilize pole-loading analysis software to evaluate structural integrity.

    • Handle ladders, measuring tools, and safety gear during inspections.


Qualifications

    1. Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required;Associate'sdegree or technical certification in electrical engineering, utility operations, or a related field preferred.

    1. Experience:

    • 1-2 years of experience in utility pole inspections, 3rd-party attachment work, ora relatedfield.

    • Familiarity with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards and local regulations.

    1. Technical Skills:

    • Proficiencyin GPS mapping software, pole-loading analysis tools, and other inspection technologies.

    1. Certifications:

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

    1. Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate withleadership andvarious clients

    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

    1. Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions(95% of work week)

    • Comfortable with physical tasks such as liftingequipment, andwalking long distances.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
