LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF DISABILITY AND AGING (DDA), SHELBY COUNTY
A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment. This position is located in the West Tennessee Regional Office Division.
This position is designed as Hybrid (In office and Remote).
This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position. Qualifications Education and Experience: Licensed by the State of Tennessee as an Occupational Therapist, Speech/Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, or Dietitian and four years of full-time clinical experience in the respective discipline with a minimum of 2 years working with Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Geriatrics, or Pediatrics.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
- Complete a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
- Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
Overview This role involves overseeing therapeutic services and service coordination, requiring significant expertise in managing multiple clinical disciplines. Under general direction, the individual ensures the effective delivery of therapy services, supervises staff, and engages in complex problem-solving to maintain high standards of care. Responsibilities extend to overseeing interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing service provision to meet the diverse needs of individuals receiving care. As the sole classification in the Therapeutic Services series, this position carries the responsibility of managing therapy services within assigned community homes or overseeing contracted agencies providing care in the community. The role also includes facilitating consultations, training, and technical assistance from an experienced interdisciplinary team to enhance service quality. Ensuring regulatory compliance and the continuous improvement of therapeutic programs are key components of this position. Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards by monitoring reports, documentation, technical assistance, therapy implementation, and equipment usage to safeguard health, safety, and service effectiveness.
- Develops and conducts training programs for staff, caregivers, and community members to enhance therapeutic service implementation and professional development.
- Resolves conflicts efficiently among direct reports, co-workers, and stakeholders while identifying and descalating barriers when necessary.
- Oversees administrative responsibilities, including documentation management, filing compliance, staff leave approvals, and operational standards adherence.
- Manages staffing and resource allocation by recruiting qualified personnel, approving training opportunities, overseeing supply procurement, and maintaining inventory efficiency.
- Collects and analyzes data from multiple sources to inform decision-making, problem-solving, and patient care strategies while interpreting diagnostic findings for healthcare teams and families.
- Leads team development by fostering collaboration, setting clear performance expectations, evaluating therapy effectiveness, and developing strategic plans to optimize service delivery.
- Utilizes technology for documentation, reporting, communication, and professional development while ensuring therapeutic equipment remains functional, safe, and properly maintained.
