Overview

At Veeco, Manufacturing Engineers play a critical role in transforming complex designs into highperformance semiconductor manufacturing systems. As a global leader in advanced capital equipment, Veeco enables nextgeneration technologies-and that innovation begins on the manufacturing floor.

Veeco is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to provide handson technical leadership for production tools and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities during 2ndshift operations. This role is well-suited for engineers who thrive in fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environments and are motivated by technical ownership, independent decision-making, and direct production impact.

Supporting the 2nd shift (1:00 PM - 10:00 PM), this position serves as a key engineering authority during off-shift hours-resolving real-time issues, supporting cleanroom manufacturing, and partnering closely with operations to ensure quality, throughput, and on-time delivery. The role directly influences NPI builds, early product stabilization, and production readiness, offering broad exposure to complex semiconductor capital equipment and endtoend manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical engineering resource for 2ndshift manufacturing operations, supporting production equipment, tools, and processes
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, optical, and controlrelated issues impacting yield, quality, cost, or schedule
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for manufacturing and equipment issues
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including product transitions, process development, and early production builds
  • Review, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation to ensure proper methods, controls, and compliance
  • Execute Engineering Change Masters (ECMs) accurately, timely, and costeffectively using SAP
  • Perform NonConforming Material (NCM) disposition and authorize rework in collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing teams
  • Respond to technical inquiries from internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment, tooling, processes, and manufacturing environments
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with manufacturing leadership and crossfunctional teams
  • Provide technical guidance and support training for manufacturing personnel during 2ndshift operations
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure alignment on technical requirements, quality standards, and production readiness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Software Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience supporting complex electro-mechanical equipment, preferably semiconductor manufacturing equipment - Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience working in cleanroom environments required
  • Strong foundation in manufacturing engineering principles, including equipment support, process control, and system integration
  • Working knowledge of system controls, architecture, and hardware/software interfaces
  • Experience supporting semiconductor equipment manufacturing and cleanroom operations
  • Demonstrated ability to solve realtime production problems where standard procedures may not fully apply
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex technical documentation, including electrical and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and operating manuals
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for modeling and technical support
  • Knowledge of SPC and process control methodologies
  • Familiarity with MRP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and datadriven problemsolving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment during offshift operations
  • Comfort working in a fastpaced manufacturing environment with shifting priorities
