Details

The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (Iowa's Environmental and Public Health Laboratory)is looking for a Temporary Data Entry Operator Iin the Ankeny Laboratory to perform data entry and verification for the Newborn Screening Program.

This is a part-time position for up to 15 hours a week.

LOCATION: ANKENY, IOWA

Initial Training: Onsite for 3 days at 6 hours each day.

SCHEDULE: Saturday - Monday: 4-9AM - Flexible shifts are available if 5-hour shift is completed prior to 9 AM.

PAY: $17.58 per hour

JOB DUTIES:

* Operates CRT terminal to enter financial, patient, student, etc., data into appropriate computer records via various display screens.

* Compares data on CRT terminal screen with source material, correcting errors in entered data as necessary to ensure accurate computer records.

* Operates CRT terminal to retrieve information from specific records in order to provide information to faculty, staff, patients, general public, or supervisory personnel.

* Examines source materials to determine data for encoding according to established guidelines.

* Reports operational difficulties to supervisory personnel as they occur.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

Clerical office experience or post high school education which totals one year.

DESIRED SKILLS:

* Experience working with Microsoft office Word, Excel, Teams.

* Knowledge of automated data processing systems and basic computer operations.

* Skill in operating computer keyboard.

* Ability to read and interpret policies, manuals and instructions.

* Ability to operate equipment skillfully and in conformance with applicable procedures.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at different levels and from various backgrounds.

* Ability to learn tasks remotely using Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc.

* Preference given to those who can commute to Ankeny, IA for initial training/ onboarding and equipment pickup.
