ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Technical Advisor - On call

Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

    Advise on oversight of operations of transit & rail lines: training, facility upkeep, workforce welfare, CBA compliance, and regulatory compliance
  • Fleet reliability, mod programs, repeat rail car failure analysis etc.
  • Equipment inspection and evaluation of diesel/coach fleet
  • Initial inspection and failure analysis of R&R material
  • Collaborates with regional leadership and other senior leaders on strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and promotes short-range and long-range programs, plans, and business and marketing strategies that provide for strategic business opportunities (e.g., partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, alliances).
  • Cultivates relationships with long-term, key clients.
  • Seeks opportunities to strengthen client relationships.

Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, and practices of one or more of VHB's Service and Market areas, as well as that of industry competitors.
  • Proven ability to drive strategic direction.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical thinking, and planning skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Excellent attention to detail

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of professional mechanical/maintenance/inspection experience of commuter rail fleets
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is expected
