The AVP, Software Engineering, Lead to Cash, provides senior engineering leadership for the Lead to Cash value stream - with full accountability for both end-to-end value delivery and the health, depth, and innovation of the engineering platforms that enable it. Leads software engineering organization across Customer Platforms, Billing Platforms, Integration engineering, and Master Data Governance ensuring each platform is built and maintained with engineering excellence and AI readiness. Engages with cross-functional leadership to understand business requirements, architecture and technology direction and evaluate alternative approaches, ensuring software and systems are designed accordingly. Incorporates state-of-the-art concepts and practices to facilitate system functionality, scalability, resilience and security, as well as ease-of-use (developer / user experience), and accountable for driving Cox Automotive's AI Transformation across the full engineering lifecycle.
Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities

- Operates as a peer to Product leadership on roadmap prioritization, delivery planning, and stakeholder communication across the full portfolio.
- Holds Platform Leaders accountable for platform health, technical depth, AI tooling adoption, and the performance of Value Stream Leaders within their organizations - ensuring delivery accountability flows through the platform org all the way to E2E business outcomes.
- Establishes appropriate engineering operating model for value stream delivery - including release cadence, quality gates, and automated validation standards.
- Resolves cross-platform engineering dependencies and release coordination across multiple concurrent platform teams to maintain delivery velocity.

- Proven ability to lead and develop large, complex engineering organizations - comfortable managing through layers, building high-performing teams, and creating the conditions for talent to thrive.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering delivery across complex, multi-platform environments - comfortable traversing different technology stacks without needing to be the deepest expert in any single platform.
- Proven track record of driving cross-platform coordination and resolving dependencies across teams to maintain delivery velocity.
- Strong technology thought leadership - able to articulate a compelling technical vision, challenge conventional approaches, and lead an organization through significant technology change.
- Exceptional executive presence - communicates with confidence and clarity in front of senior business leaders, translating complex engineering topics into business-relevant narratives without losing technical credibility.
- Experience leading or participating in AI transformation programs - familiarity with spec-driven development, AI-assisted coding tools, and AI-enabled delivery practices strongly preferred.

- Familiarity with CRM platforms, billing systems, and cloud-native integration.

- Mastery skills in building partnerships, executive communication, engaging others across all levels of the organization, guiding team success, leading change, and leading with vision.
What makes this role different
- This role carries total engineering accountability for the portfolio - platform health, technical innovation, and end-to-end business value delivery all flow through this leader. Platform Leaders report directly to the AVP, and within each platform organization, Value Stream Leaders drive E2E business outcomes across platform boundaries.
- Unlike a traditional single-platform engineering leader, this AVP must hold the big picture across multiple platform domains, ensure Platform Leaders are driving technical rigor and AI transformation, and ensure Value Stream Leaders embedded in those platform orgs are staying focused on cross-platform business outcomes - not just their own platform's delivery.
- The ideal candidate is equally strong as a technology thought leader and a people leader - able to set a compelling vision for how engineering should evolve, while building the organizational capability and trust to get there.
- This leader must be willing to disrupt conventional thinking about how platforms are built, operated, and sourced. As AI begins to reshape the SaaS industry itself - changing what vendor platforms provide, what internal teams need to build, and how software is developed - this AVP needs to be actively thinking about what that means for Cox Automotive's platform strategy, not reacting to it after the fact.
