DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT

Number of Positions: 2
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $57,852.00/year

The Chicago Department of Water Management is seeking a Staff Assistant-Excluded to assist in the performance of specialized administrative support duties, and develop and implement management methods to improve organizational performance; and performs related duties as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinates and provides administrative support in departmental operations.
  • Acts as a liaison for management at meetings, committees and field assignments as needed.
  • Provides confidential administrative support to Managing Deputy Commissioner.
  • Will access confidential records and information, with respect to labor relations and labor negotiations, including collective bargaining proposals, and strategies.
  • Assists in preparation of responses to OIG inquiries and requests.
  • Gathers documentation requested by OIG for employee and department investigations and inquiries, including scheduling the interviews with OIG.
  • Assists with preparation of confidential departmental organizations charts out of the Commissioner's office for department restructuring.

Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of administrative experience, OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a directly related field, PLUS three (3) years of administrative experience, OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration or a directly related field, PLUS one (1) year of administrative experience

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
