Department Overview Founded in 2006, the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) is an interdisciplinary research center that aims to advance the quality of teaching and learning, from infancy to higher education. Our research initiatives span the globe and our faculty are leading the way to promote meaningful changes in education. We believe effective teaching and learning are the foundation for opportunity, success and well-being. Our mission is to advance the quality and impact of teaching through scientific study in educational settings from infancy to higher education. Position Summary The person hired for this role will lead recruitment efforts for research studies examining the impact of literacy-focused educational interventions. They will be able to build and sustain strong relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers in Virginia and across the United States. They will be able to effectively "market" the literacy instructional interventions we are testing and ensure these interventions are aligned with district- and school-level needs in such a way that we are able to successfully recruit and retain teacher participants. The person hired for this role will also support teacher participants in their efforts to implement interventions as part of research studies (i.e., via virtual or in-person professional development and coaching). They will work largely independently (touching base with our larger team via Zoom meetings once or twice per week) and with a high degree of ownership to ensure participant recruitment and intervention implementation support processes are well-coordinated and responsive to the needs of both research teams and school partners.
