SUMMARY: Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these values guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another. Schedules patients for radiologic examinations in a prescribed manner, ensuring an efficient patient flow. Processes radiographic images using the CR Readers and scans the images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review. Performs diagnostic procedures demonstrating sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors, in order to produce optimum results. Scans documents into Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and (PACS), when applicable. Provides for safety and comfort of all patients in accordance with prescribed standards. Operates fixed radiographic equipment in the Radiology Department and/or transports and operates portable radiographic equipment on nursing units. Assists physician and physician assistant in the administration of opaque contrast media. Processes exposed radiographic images as required. Follows protocols for appropriate usage of the RIS and PACS. Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and adequate supplies for assigned area. Rotates within the department and by shift, as required, including weekends and holidays. Participates in the training and instruction of radiologic technology for staff radiographers and students. Maintains quality assurance, observant of hospital and department safety regulations, environmental, and infection control, in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures and objectives. Attire and personal appearance must conform to departmental guidelines and standards. Performs other related duties, as required. Maintains a current license to work in the State of Rhode Island. Must hold current ARRT certification. Ability to consistently meet the following job accountabilities: critical thinking, interpersonal skills, team membership, customer focus, initiative and reliability. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of clinical experience required for certification. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, physicians and staff of all levels and display empathy towards all patients. Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day. Subject to electrical and energy hazards. May lift and position patients and lift supplies up to 50 pounds.
