Job Description:

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria.

VIE Main Requirements:

  • European Union citizens (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Monaco), graduates up to and including 28 years old.

  • Have fulfilled military obligations for their country, if any.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Between 18 and 28 years old

Your place in the Airbus organization:

You will belong to the Commercial Aircraft Sales department (MC). More concretely, the central Services Credit Management team (MCCSC) is part of the Services Contracts Department (MCCS) and consists of an international team of Credit Managers based in Hamburg (central team) and the various Airbus regional offices (Singapore, Beijing, Miami and soon Dubai). As services credit manager for Latin America you will be based in Miami as part of the local Contracts team, reporting directly to the Head of Contracts Latin America, managed by the Credit Manager in place and functionally to the global Head of Services Credit Management in Hamburg.Mission will start with 3-4 weeks training in Hamburg.

Your main objectives:

The ultimate goal is to ensure that customers pay on time for the aftermarket services rendered by Airbus. In order to do so you will assess the credit risks for your customer portfolio, advise payment securitization mechanisms for new services offers and guide the cash collection process motivating your customers to pay their bills on time. You will be a key contributor to reaching the cash intake objectives of Airbus. You will also be contributing to digitalization projects like automations in SAP and data visualization improvements using corporate approved tools.

Your key interfaces:

The Services Credit Manager is the main interface between a portfolio of external customers and Airbus Customer Services for all aftermarket credit / payment activities. In order to succeed, you will develop and maintain a trustful relationship with your customers and internal stakeholders.

Main external interfaces:

  • Airbus' services customers in Latin America: airlines, lessors, MROs and other third party entities (about 80-100 active customers per services credit manager)

  • Airbus' credit insurance providers

Main internal interfaces:

  • Customer Support Directors (CSD) - accompany the customers and provide support related to the operation of Airbus aircraft and the associated services

  • Services Sales Directors - coordinate the sale of services to customers (spare parts, training, equipment upgrades, flight operations software, digital solutions, consulting, etc.)

  • Contracts Negotiators - negotiate and document the commercial agreements with customers

  • GAM leaders (Global Account Management) - coordinate the commercial relationship with each customer

  • Accounting and Treasury departments - allocate incoming customer payments

  • Services business units - engineering and delivering the Airbus services

In this role, active and constructive communication with external customers and Airbus's worldwide Commercial and Services departments is essential. You will be exposed to conflict and negotiation. Regular travel to multiple customer facilities in Latin America and to Toulouse and Hamburg is part of the job. An initial training of 3-4 weeks in Hamburg will be provided at the beginning of the mission.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure for your customer portfolio that invoices are paid on time as per contractual terms. You will be able to track your achievements every day when checking the customer cash receipts in the bank statements.

  • Mitigate financial risks and avoid losses from bankruptcies

  • Understand the contractual relationship between Airbus Customer Services and external customers. Contribute to it by giving advice on the contractual clauses with regard to commercial and payment terms.

  • Administration of customer's Goods and Services credits

  • Regularly assess the credit risks for your customers (with support of the Airbus Financial Analysts team and data from external professional services) and work on risk mitigation.

  • Work in SAP to analyze and control payment data from customers. You will perform dunning actions: from regular payment reminders and invoice dispute resolution, to escalation and potential sanctions for delinquent customers. This will be done in line with well defined processes and policies.

  • Maintain close coordination with the Global Account Management (GAM) team when it comes to debt collection.

  • While teamwork is essential to reach your objectives, you will benefit from a good amount of freedom and flexibility in your individual work planning and way of working.

  • Find compromises and constructive solutions for customers' payment problems

Your ideal profile as a Services Credit Manager for Latin America

Minimum requirements:

  • Academic background:

    • An internationally recognised Master's business degree. Engineering/ technical degrees can also be accepted when accompanied by past experience in similar roles.

Professional experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in International B2B Trade, Logistics, and/ or Transportation sectors. Experience in the aviation industry (aftermarket) is a strong advantage.

  • Sound commercial (customer-facing) and contracts management or accounting background (Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable).

  • A very good understanding of general business and accounting principles

  • Experience working for and with large multinational corporations

IT skills:

  • SAP most common financial transactions knowledge and experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills are required. Advanced command of Excel and Google Sheets.

  • Digital mindset and ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of financial data

Languages:

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least intermediate level of Spanish is a must, Portuguese is a very strong plus and key differentiator for the role.
  • The additional domain of other languages will be highly advantageous (more concretely French and German)

Personal elements:

  • Solid negotiation skills and ability to constructively deal with conflict

  • Uncompromisable work ethics. Understanding of international business compliance standards, law and export control regulations.

  • Readiness for short-notice business travels is expected (traveling up to 30-40% of the working time)

  • Ability to legally work in the USA and to travel to and do business with all the countries in the Latin America region.

Other valuable assets:

  • Interest and curiosity to work, interact and negotiate with people of different nationalities and cultures.

  • Ability to find compromise solutions to reach your objectives. Customer focus and diplomacy are essential.

  • Contractual drafting skills and experience

  • A proactive, resilient and goal-driven personality, who can persevere in challenging situations.

  • Being a team-player. A good sense of humor is helpful to let go in tense situations

  • Speak up attitude to enable continuous improvement, challenging the status quo.
