About the Role: Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is hiring a Cybersecurity Operations Analyst to work with our Cybersecurity Team. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information assets protecting systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. A Cybersecurity Operations Analyst monitors security performance and compliance of cybersecurity defenses and technologies. Daily activities include troubleshooting problems and recommending actions, applying in-depth understanding, creativity and taking the initiative in problem solving. What your day-to-day as a Cybersecurity Operations Analyst at Fermilab will look like:
- Configuring, implementing, integrating, maintaining, and administering security systems.
- Installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading security systems hardware and software.
- Planning, analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and ensuring quality assurance, leveraging in-depth knowledge of technology interactions.
- Leading design efforts, gathering user requirements, and incorporating feedback into specific projects.
- Analyzing and planning for anticipated changes in security requirements.
- Determining methods and procedures for new assignments, providing guidance to team members and facilitating knowledge transfer.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- High School diploma with 3+ years of cybersecurity experience required.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 1+ years of cybersecurity experience.
- Must be able to obtain an HSPD-12 card.
- May require a security clearance for specific duties.
- Familiarity with software development practices and at least one year of experience building web applications using the Ruby on Rails framework.
- Experience with cybersecurity defense technologies, including intrusion detection, threat detection, and network monitoring.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communications skills.
- Support operational and maintenance activities for assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices.
