Job Summary

We are searching for a grounded business strategist and effective leader to elevate our overall business performance while driving a culture of change to achieve our visions of the future. The role is as a proactive member of the Senior Management team of the Motion platform to create, deliver and manage strategies in achieving operational excellence spanning the platform to achieve the ambitious targets of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery while driving continuous improvement activities across all manufacturing related areas of the business. This individual must be a solid mentor while providing clear leadership and vision to all operating units, inspiring and motivating all staff members. Establish and drive Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the Manufacturing function to ensure that all projects are delivered on budget, on time and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will be comfortable in a complex organization with the energy to address both tactical and strategic needs of a growing business.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for Manufacturing activities across the established global business and developing presence in China, India, Mexico and the US to enable a well-balanced strategy of regional and global manufacturing capabilities.
  • Define and Implement manufacturing best practices bringing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance across the Motion platform.
  • Ensure that manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet the business objectives and demands of the Nidec Group along with ensuring the employees have a clear understanding of the organization's values and goals.
  • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Establish monthly, quarterly and yearly targets (KPI's) for operating units along with chairing monthly operations review sessions and regular GEMBA visits to sites.
  • Develop and champion risk mitigation strategies to guarantee continuity of operations and supply.
  • Build the quality system to ensure that manufacturing capabilities and quality levels meet or exceed company requirements and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the sub-Business Operations Leaders to ensure continuous improvement goals and objectives are met and achieve operational excellence across the Motion platform.
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process focusing on Base Line Profit (BLP). Lead, develop, and implement variable cost productivity programs across all areas of responsibility.
  • Formulate and deploy strategies to optimize the cost performance of the plant through capital investment programs targeting the adoption of automation wherever appropriate.
  • Partner with finance on budget and ongoing cost control and proposed facility and operational capital investments in line with business objectives.
  • Evaluate, develop and deploy the organization's structures and procedures such as decision-making regarding staffing and regional shifts in market demand and capability to supply.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report to senior management on a regular basis on the state of operational affairs as well as lead the long-term strategic business planning as it relates to operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Operations Management, or above, is required. MBA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive Manufacturing experience, at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • P&L management experience strongly preferred (proven strategic planning and budgeting experience).
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record of achieving financial and operational results.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including problem solving, team building, coaching, and the ability to motivate people.
  • Must be a highly results-oriented and customer-focused individual.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally 50%+
  • English mandatory. Other language skills are helpful.
