We are seeking a Sr. Project Controls Advisor to provide advanced technical expertise and leadership in project cost, schedule, and performance management across a diverse portfolio. Here's what you will do:

  • Provide full Project Controls leadership across assigned projects and/or portfolios, including cost, schedule, forecasting, and performance management.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project controls processes, tools, and reporting frameworks.

  • Deliver advanced analysis and insights (cost, schedule, KPIs), translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.

  • Influence project strategy and execution by identifying risks, challenging assumptions, and recommending mitigation and optimization opportunities.

  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to drive scope definition, change management, and financial governance.

  • Oversee and validate project forecasting, including expenditure profiles, accruals, and long-range outlooks.

  • Lead variance analysis and ensure clear articulation of drivers, impacts, and recovery plans to senior leadership.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve portfolio execution and predictability.

  • Support and guide the implementation of earned value or milestone-based performance measurement approaches.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior Project Controls team members and support capability development across the function.

  • Collaborate with contractors and field teams to ensure accurate cost capture, including oversight of Digital LEMs and field cost processes.

  • Drive consistency and standardization of project controls practices across projects and programs.

Who you are:

You have the following education and experience:

Required:

  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering or Accounting related fields. Other post-secondary education may be considered.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of Project Controls or Project Management, or related experience.

  • Strong understanding of pipeline or energy infrastructure project execution.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling, data analysis)

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and translate into clear insights and recommendations

  • Experience with project controls systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, EcoSys)

  • Working knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools

  • Strong understanding of cost management, forecasting, and schedule control practices

  • Proven ability to identify risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience or training

  • Experience developing dashboards or reporting tools (Power BI or similar)

  • Experience supporting portfolio-level programs

  • Experience in Oil and Gas

Physical Requirements:
Include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Mental Requirements:

Include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions.

Salary:

Ranges from $96,200 - $130,900 USD for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
