Summary of Position: The AI Solutions Developer designs and integrates AI tools across institutional systems, ensuring that applications are deployed ethically, effectively, and in alignment with college policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. This position collaborates with internal teams and external partners to identify use cases, translate technical concepts, and support responsible AI adoption. The role also is responsible for facilitating training, providing user support, and maintaining data infrastructure to ensure reliable and effective AI performance.

This is a hybrid eligible position that would allow for 1-2 days a week working from home after the training period.


Essential Functions

  1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
  2. Complete all required College training and be responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

  4. AI Solution Development and Integration - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Design, prototype, and implement AI driven tools including chatbots, agents, and workflow automations.
    • Integrate AI applications with SIS, LMS, ERP, and other institutional systems.
    • Ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance in deployed solutions.
    • Ensure FERPA, accessibility, and ethical AI standards are upheld.
    • Monitor and evaluate AI applications for risk, bias, and performance (PDCA).
  5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Partner with IR, IT, and the Core Council to identify high-value AI use cases.
    • Translate technical concepts into accessible language for faculty, staff, and administrators.
    • Participate in AI core Council meetings.
    • Serve in an advisory and partnership capacity with external businesses and organizations.
  6. Training, Documentation, and User Support - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Develop guides, training resources, and best practices for AI adoption.
    • Conduct internal and external workshops.
    • Provide on-going support to end-users of implemented AI solutions.
  7. Data Infrastructure & Technical Support - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Build and maintain ETL pipelines and data flows for AI applications.
    • Collaborate with IR on data validation
    • Troubleshoot and optimize AI tool performance

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in related field with 3 yrs. occupational experience OR
  • Related Occupational experience totaling 5 yrs.
  • Working knowledge of a programming language (such as Java, Python, C++)
  • Experiences with databases (SQL, Pinecone, etc.)
  • Experience working with multiple large language models (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Llama 3)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with software development, workflow automation tools, Python and SQL
  • Experience with business systems processes
  • Experience building agents or agentic AI applications using frameworks such as Dify or LangChain
  • Experience with workflow automation or AI orchestration tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Make, Dify, LangGraph)

This position reports to: Associate Vice President - Workforce Partnerships & Innovation

Starting annual/hourly salary range based on education and experience: $71,542 - $91,926

This position would include competitive salary, along with a wide variety of benefits available to full-time Western Technical College Employees.
