At Think HCM, we partner with forward-thinking organizations to connect exceptional engineering talent with opportunities that shape the future of technology. Our team specializes in aligning professionals with innovative projects that demand technical excellence, creativity, and leadership. We're currently seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer who thrives in a hands-on, multidisciplinary environment and is driven by solving complex challenges in power systems and advanced electronics.

Position Overview:
We are looking for an innovative Principal Electrical Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge power solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and validate power conversion, power control, and system communication products that drive technology forward. Your expertise will play a critical role in developing next-generation systems and supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through production.

Work Performed:

  • Manage and develop customized power conversion products based on customer specifications - including AC/DC rectifiers, DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, and system controllers - from conception to completion.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Management and cross-functional departments such as purchasing, sales, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure projects meet quality standards and technical objectives.
  • Lead the technical responsibilities of electrical engineering projects, including design, development, testing, and manufacturing of electrical products and systems.
  • Generate specifications for new R&D products and ensure alignment with customer and performance requirements.
  • Use analytical tools such as PSpice and MathCAD to conceptualize and validate design approaches.
  • Prepare schematic diagrams, BOM part lists, and technical documentation.
  • Participate on project teams alongside mechanical and process engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Develop and maintain component stress documentation charts, MTBF analyses, and DFMEA reports.
  • Collaborate with technicians and perform hands-on debugging and testing of prototypes.
  • Develop Design Verification Test procedures and assist with execution and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate directly with customers to confirm design alignment with intended application and performance goals.
  • Mentor junior engineering team members, providing guidance on technology, best practices for design-for-manufacturability (DFM), and professional development.

Other Relevant Experience / Training:
  • High-frequency magnetic component design.
  • Deep understanding of EMC design best practices and experience troubleshooting EMC issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of components used in switch-mode power supply design.
  • Experience with agency compliance standards (UL, CSA, VDE, CE).
  • Strong understanding of designing for testability and manufacturability.
  • Experience designing microcontroller-based systems to report and control power electronics.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive projects to completion on time and within scope.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 8+ years of experience in power electronics and switch-mode power supply design.
  • Proficiency in PSpice, Mathcad, and familiarity with relevant compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
