We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose of the Role

As a Contracts Manager, you will lead the development, negotiation, and administration of complex contracts and subcontracts across major projects. You will ensure that all agreements align with company and client requirements related to safety, quality, cost, and schedule, while proactively managing commercial risk. This role plays a key part in driving contract strategy, supporting project execution, and ensuring strong commercial outcomes, particularly within pipeline and construction environments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of contracts and subcontracts, ensuring commercially sound, risk-balanced agreements.

  • Provide end-to-end contract management across the project lifecycle, from pre-award strategy through execution and closeout.

  • Establish and implement contract strategies that align with project objectives and mitigate commercial and operational risk.

  • Oversee contract administration activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and client expectations.

  • Manage contractor and subcontractor performance from a contractual perspective, including change management, claims, and dispute resolution.

  • Partner with project, procurement, legal, and operations teams to ensure alignment and effective contract execution.

  • Lead commercial negotiations and provide guidance on contract terms, variations, and amendments.

  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and claims, ensuring contractual compliance and financial accuracy.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks, escalating issues as needed and driving resolution strategies.

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready contract documentation and ensure proper record-keeping throughout the contract lifecycle.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members and support continuous improvement of contract management processes.

  • Travel as required to project sites or contractor locations, including remote and logistically complex environments such as the North Slope.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Typically 12+ years of experience in contract management, subcontract administration, or procurement within engineering and construction environments.
  • Strong experience supporting major capital projects, particularly pipeline construction, including exposure to early works, logistics, and remote operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, change management, claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk, cost, and schedule considerations.
  • Advanced understanding of contract management systems, processes, and tools.
  • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others and contributing to team development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at multiple levels.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in contract documentation, compliance, and financial controls.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required or relocate, if needed.
