The Ryan lab within the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is seeking a Summer Lab Assistant. The Ryan lab investigates the pathophysiology and biology of lung and pancreatic disease, with a particular focus in stem cell biology and tissue regeneration. We use cutting-edge tools such as induced pluripotent stem cells, organ on chips, organoids, CRISPR-based gene editing and single cell genomics, high-resolution microscopy to address our research questions.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
* Perform routine assays and readouts: immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), imaging, and basic image and data analysis via ImageJ.
* Read and interpret scientific literature pertaining to basal cell function and differentiation.
* Maintain detailed electronic lab notebook (ELN) and/or physical lab notebook with raw data, metadata, and methods.
o Maintain documentation and collection of data on the shared laboratory drive.
* Support reagent preparation, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
* Contribute to protocol optimization, SOP updates, and reproducibility documentation.
* Assist with figure preparation and writing for progress reports, posters, and manuscripts.
* Participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and other required meetings.
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate studying a biomedical-related science such as cell biology, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc. |
