GENERAL FUNCTION: The Director of Project Engineering, Mississippi provides overall leadership of the Project Engineering function across all Mississippi shipbuilding programs. This role is accountable for planning, coordinating, and delivering engineering execution across the full project lifecycle-from program startup through installation, commissioning, and system acceptance. This leader ensures engineering work is properly resourced, sequenced, and executed in alignment with program schedules, production needs, and enterprise priorities. The role serves as a critical integration point between Functional Engineering, Production Engineering, Project Management, and shipyard operations to ensure technical alignment, execution discipline, and delivery performance. Responsibilities Project Engineering Leadership & Execution
- Lead and develop the Project Engineering organization supporting all Mississippi programs
- Direct planning, coordination, and execution of engineering deliverables across all project phases
- Ensure alignment of engineering activities with production schedules, procurement, and program milestones
- Oversee new program startup, including engineering planning, resource alignment, and cross-functional coordination
Field Engineering
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for field engineering across all programs, support production throughout the build program including installation, testing, and commissioning phases
- Lead and manage engineering aspects of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system integration efforts across all ship systems
- Ensure the project engineering team works closely with the test team on test plan reviews and critical tests, and participate as needed in system acceptance
- Work with the test team to ensure alignment, calibration, and system integration activities are executed to program and requirements standards
Resource Planning & Allocation
- Ensure appropriate staffing and resource allocation (engineers, designers, technicians, equipment) across all programs
- Partner with Engineering leadership to balance resources against enterprise priorities and program demand
- Support engineering estimates for future programs and proposal efforts
Cross-Functional Integration
- Partner closely with Functional Engineering and Production Engineering to ensure design intent, compliance, and execution feasibility
- Coordinate with Project Management, Production, and Procurement to resolve technical issues and maintain delivery schedules
- Ensure seamless communication and alignment across all engineering and operational stakeholders
Change Management & Configuration Control
- Ensure all field and production-driven changes are captured, documented, and processed through defined change control processes
- Maintain alignment between field execution and engineering design through disciplined configuration management
Performance & Operating Discipline
- Drive execution rigor, accountability, and transparency across project engineering activities
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to delivery, quality, and productivity
- Reinforce standardized processes and continuous improvement across project engineering

- Deep understanding of shipbuilding processes, installation, and commissioning required.
- Working knowledge of ABS, USCG, CFR, NVIC, IEEE and other applicable standards required
