Summary:

The Distribution Center Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by providing leadership to distribution center team members and oversees all department operations. This position provides day-to-day direction, as well as guidance on projects led by team members. The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for the departments' operations budget and will ensure all capital projects are completed on time and within budget. This individual will also help develop best practices by aligning department processes between all company locations. They implement improvement opportunities to manage work flow, promote safety, provide training, and ensure compliance in the distribution center while supporting a positive work environment. This individual is a self starter and a leader who exemplifies the company culture by setting an example for all distribution center employees. Their leadership should promote our culture, our 5 P's and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Drive company safety initiatives and ensure compliance
  • Provide not only supervision, but leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
  • Analyze daily reports, Metric, and spreadsheets to identify areas of opportunity
  • Ensure the accuracy of customer orders and product returns
  • Oversee picking, transfer queue, and error reporting
  • Encourage creativity, risk-taking, and constant improvements
  • Keep team members focused and on track
  • Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by the team
  • Assist in managing the delivery logistics for the branch
  • Assist Production Manager, improve scrap percent of sales of copper
  • Maximize machine uptime
  • May provide back up support to team member
  • Work side-by-side with the inside sales, counter, Production Manager, and distribution center manager to ensure quality customer service
  • Train any new team members
  • Oversee daily production schedule and smooth production levels accordingly
  • Drive for continuous improvement
  • Promote our culture and 5 P's

Job Requirements/Specifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of a two year degree preferred
  • Previous distribution center experience preferred
  • Previous experience in distribution center leadership preferred
  • Previous experience managing a team of five or more preferred
  • Electrical product knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs required; lift 100 lbs at times
  • Ability to use fork lift equipment required
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Ability to work with Excel documents
  • Knowledge of Eclipse and RF Scan is preferred
  • Able to work a varied shift

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Consistently standing, walking, lifting, works with others, works indoors
  • Frequently carrying, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, reaching, working with hands & fingers, vision acuity near & far, depth perception, field of vision, color vision, team lifting, customer contact, extended day, cold, heat, temperature changes, and high places
  • Sometimes sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, non-standard work shift, wet, humid, noise, work outdoors, and mechanical hazards
