Job Title: Server Decommissioning Technician - Data Center Location: (On-site - West Des Moines, Iowa) Employment Type: Contract / Project-Based Schedule: (e.g., Day shift Job Overview We are seeking detail-oriented Server Decommissioning Technicians to support a large-scale data center decommissioning project. This role is responsible for the safe, secure, and accurate removal of server hardware, associated components, and cabling in accordance with established data center procedures, safety standards, and data security requirements. This is a hands-on role requiring physical work in a critical infrastructure environment and close adherence to documented processes. Key Responsibilities * Decommission server, storage, and network equipment per project SOPs * Power down, label, rack-and-stack removal, and package equipment for transport or disposal * Remove and properly manage structured cabling (fiber and copper) as required * Update asset tracking systems and ensure accurate documentation * Follow strict data security, chain-of-custody, and destruction protocols * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment * Collaborate with data center operations, logistics, and project leadership * Adhere to ESD, safety, and data center access policies at all times Required Qualifications * 1+ year of experience working in a data center or IT hardware environment * Hands-on experience with server and rack-mounted equipment * Familiarity with basic networking concepts and cabling standards * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment * Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and working on ladders as needed * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures * Reliable attendance and punctuality Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Des Moines, IA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
