Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Aircraft Mission Systems Integration Job Locations

Overview Summary: Provide subject matter support services for highly complex aircraft peculiar mission equipment being procured/upgraded and fielded by the program office, as well as common mission equipment. Successful performance requires extensive knowledge of the component and aircraft level qualification requirements as specified in DoD Instruction 5030.61, DoD Airworthiness Policy with service specific guidance, test and evaluation processes in accordance with DoD Instruction 5000.89, Test and Evaluation as modified for acquisition category, and ability of interfacing effectively with aircraft systems integrators and systems engineers. Mission equipment includes one or more of the following: avionics (including aviation networking) hardware and software, aircraft survivability equipment (ASE) (active radio frequency and infrared countermeasures, passive infrared signature reduction equipment, etc.), sensor equipment (electro-optical, infrared, radar, laser, etc.), and weapons equipment (machine guns, rockets, missiles, and targeting/sighting systems). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides senior technical expert level technical, analytical, and program management support for complex aircraft platform mission equipment programs, including test planning and execution in support of system qualification and validation/verification of aircraft modifications. Physical Requirements The physical requirements must be met to perform the essential functions of the job - able to: see, hear, and speak; lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds; sit for extended time; and, use a personal computer and common peripheral devices (e.g., keyboard, mouse, video display, printer). Travel As assigned. Work Authorization/Security Clearance DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Additional Qualifying Factors: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
