As we continue to grow, we are seeking a handson Fabrication Manager to lead our shop operations and help take our team and processes to the next level.


Position Summary

The Fabrication Manager is responsible for overseeing all fabrication operations, including scheduling, quality, safety, and team leadership. This role blends strategic planning with daytoday shop management and requires someone who enjoys being on the floor, mentoring employees, and driving results in a custom, lowtomid volume environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.


  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.


  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.


  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.


  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department and employees.


  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving work problems.


  • Initiates and suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.


  • Confers with other managers and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.


  • Plans production operations and establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.


  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.


  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.


  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.


  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.


  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to upper management.


  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.


  • Manages the cleanliness of the department as well as designated outside areas.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all employees in the Fabrication Departments Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor's degree and one to two years related experience; or two years of college and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or four years of high school and seven to ten years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience. Experience using computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Manufacturing Software.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
