What does an Environmental Field Technician do?

The Environmental Field Technician provides field support for environmental projects by collecting soil, groundwater, and other environmental samples. This position works closely with project managers, scientists, and engineers to complete field tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations and project requirements. The role requires frequent travel throughout the state of Oklahoma and hands-on fieldwork, including physically demanding activities. The successful candidate will represent ENERCON professionally and maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members.

What responsibilities will I have in this role? (including but are not limited to):

  • Conduct environmental fieldwork, including soil and groundwater investigations. Work assignments may be task-oriented to support the project objectives and may involve functional leadership responsibilities to direct field crews during data collection or remediation.
  • Conduct Phase II Investigations: Assist in developing scopes of work and cost estimates; manage subcontractors; perform all phases of subsurface soil and groundwater investigations; complete geologic and geophysical studies; manage waste; formulate independent conclusions regarding environmental conditions; develop technical reports in accordance with applicable federal, state and local regulations; and, provide defensible recommendations and solutions that, at minimum, take potential impacts into account and meet client objectives.
  • Communicate with and manage work from clients, regulators, and other third-party groups.
  • Internal (ENERCON) administration and training.
  • Maintain confidentiality related to property and client-sensitive information

What qualifications/skillswill help you be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or similar degree and minimum of 1+ years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, scientific evaluation skills, and understanding of field and laboratory analytical analysis and results.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight and multi-day stays, throughout the US, as necessary.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time; work on unpaved surfaces, in outdoor environments, and in extreme weather conditions, including for multi-day field assignments; and,
  • Must be able to work productively with other staff, at all levels, in a team environment.
  • Must possess avalid driver's license.
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders at client sites.
  • Must be able to effectively navigate client sites to conduct walkdowns.
  • Must be able to work outside.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client and company projects and/or meetings.

Interview and Employment Requirements:

  • Completion of pre interview assessments as needed.
  • College transcript submitted for anyone under 1 year of experience post-graduation.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) checks according to company and client policies.
