The targeted hiring range for this full-time position is $55,400 - $74,700 depending on qualifications; however, the expanded salary range provides opportunities for advancement. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and job location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, competencies, experience, and relevant education, training or a combination of these things and market demand. Job Description

Red Wing Shoe Company is seeking a Retail Staff Accountant to support the accuracy and integrity of financial records for our retail operations. This role plays an important part in monthend close, account reconciliations, and retail financial analysis, while also serving as an accounting resource for companyowned and dealer stores.

The ideal candidate is detailoriented, comfortable working with retail transaction data, and enjoys partnering with operational teams to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Support the monthend close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing periodoverperiod variances.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger activity in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Develop and apply a strong understanding of retail PointofSale (POS) and eCommerce Order Management Systems (OMS).
  • Identify financial and operational control gaps related to retail transactions and support accurate reporting.
  • Provide Tier 2 accounting support to companyowned and dealer stores by responding to inquiries via ServiceNow and email.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations in accordance with established policies.
  • Support annual audit activities, including preparation of schedules, workpapers, and documentation for assigned areas.
  • Assist with retail accounting projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Retail Operations to understand business initiatives and assess accounting and internal control impacts.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with U.S. GAAP, IRS guidelines, and internal policies.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field a plus
  • 2+years of accounting experience, preferably supporting retail operations.
  • Experience with retail accounting transactions, including POS systems, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger, inventory, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Experience with ERP systems and retail transaction platforms preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Comfortable working in financial systems and learning new technology platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Selfmotivated, detailoriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Work Environment:

This position follows a Hyflex work model, providing the flexibility of remote work alongside intentional inoffice collaboration for "Moments that Matter" and key business needs. Upon hire, must be located within a commutable distance to Red Wing, MN.
