Summary Description of Position

This position is responsible for managing the Sales Service Center, which supports the external sales team in setting and executing market pricing and promotion strategies, prospecting, reporting results, and gathering market intelligence. Pricing strategy and vision is defined and carried out across the division in coordination with the Sales Manager(s). The position mentors, coaches and develops the sales service staff to effectively execute on their day-to-day responsibilities.

Education, Experience, Skills Required

Education

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required; MBA preferred

Experience

* 5+ years' experience in implementing pricing strategies and market analysis in the construction materials industry

* Other equivalent work experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface and develop relationships with different audiences.

* Must have a strong analytical orientation with the ability to apply analytical concepts to complex business problems.

* Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

* Applied knowledge of construction techniques and construction materials end-uses. * An understanding of assigned markets, including Vulcan and competitor products, applications, specifications, capabilities, pricing strategy, logistics, and methods of shipment.

* Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

* Good business sense, negotiating skills, self-confident, sound judgment, resourceful, and politically savvy are required.

* Strong analytical skills and proven leadership ability.

* Proficient computer and tablet user, able to use Microsoft Office applications, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

* Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.

* Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

* Must have a strong analytical orientation with the ability to apply analytical concepts to complex business problems.

Essential Functions

* Works directly with the sales team to set and implement the market pricing strategy, based on tactical market intelligence, division wide pricing strategies, optimal source locations, and customer credit information

* Makes or influences management decisions on the areas pricing and final quotes on major projects

* Facilitates account allocation recommendation to the sales manager

* Ensures sales reps are receiving the appropriate market intelligence

* Mentors, coaches and develops the sales service team so they can effectively execute pricing strategies

* Ensures division internal processes such as pricing, quoting, and promotions are being executed through common standards

* Develops and implements metrics to regularly and effectively monitor results

* Acts as a resource in supporting and/or participating in any acquisition

* Provides additional market data, competitive and qualified leads to sales group

* Provides analysis information to general managers, area managers, and sales managers * Focuses on future growth, process improvements, gaining market share and building the business

* Stays involved, with sales colleagues, in networking through industry association meetings, building strategic relationships and taking an active role in community and government relations * Other duties as assigned

Other Requirements

* Must be able to sit for long periods

* Must be able to use computerized equipment and technology

* Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential * Ability to operate a motorized vehicle and travel locally on an as needed basis.

* Occasional travel by air may be necessary
