Description

As a Senior Director, Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of systems engineers that are responsible for defining, verification and monitoring of different parts of a Satellite wireless system including Satellites, Gateways and products. The Systems Engineering team is at the forefront for defining any new parts of the satellite system and this job requires vision to be able to drive innovation and compliance to the overall system needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train direct reports
  • Oversee the work and assignments of direct reports
  • Provide constructive and timely performance feedback
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • This role requires technical management of the teams requiring understanding of the systems engineering principles to drive the team.



Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Drive the team to define system requirements for the satellite system including ground, satellite and products.
  • Drive the team to verify acceptance and testing of system requirements for any new part of the system to ensure overall system performance is met
  • Plan and conduct system end to end integration for new systems being developed
  • Drive the team to monitor system performance and guide them to find and resolve system issues during development of new systems.
  • Work with operations team to guide them to develop process to monitor system performance and guidance to be able to resolve the issues.
  • Provide guidance to the teams to develop data analytics tools to monitor system performance.
  • Work with regulatory teams to manage the regulatory requirements and licensing for the system.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities for applicability and support in the system
  • Perform various capacity analysis to meet business requirements
  • Ability to perform hands on debugging to help the team with finding system issues
  • Define and develop system tools to help with testing and analysis.



Skills and Competencies:



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Matlab, Power Bi, Grafana
  • Experience with test equipment such as Spectrum analyzer, Network analyzer, Oscillocope, Power meters etc
  • Familiarity with NetSuite


  • Ability to motivate and lead teams to achieve objectives and service levels to the highest standards


  • Excellent planning and decision-making skills



Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:



  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with 25+ years of experience in Satellite wireless communications


Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
