THE POSITION

The Department of Community and Economic Development's Office of Chief Counsel is seeking a skilled and professional Legal Office Administrator to support the legal and operational functions of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will provide high-level administrative and analytical support to the Department of Community & Economic Development's Office of Chief Counsel, performing independent, management-level legal support work across multiple practice areas. You will serve as a key resource to several legal teams, ensuring accurate tracking, coordination, and execution of essential legal processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Local Government Unit Debt Act (LGUDA) team by reviewing filings, tracking fees, and maintaining accurate records within the LGUDA database.
  • Assist the Right-to-Know Law team by coordinating with program offices to gather responsive materials and working with the supervising attorney to ensure timely, compliant responses.
  • Provide support to the Financing Transactional team, including tasks related to closing and funding loan transactions.
  • Deliver general administrative and legal support to the entire Office of Chief Counsel as needed, ensuring smooth daily operations and consistent workflow.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of varied office management or staff work within a public or private legal office.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have at least two years of experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • You must have at least two years of experience using Microsoft Outlook
  • You must have at least two years of experience using Microsoft Word.
  • You must have at least two years of experience with strong working knowledge of core legal terminology, consistently applying it with accuracy across daily operations.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
