Summary
An essential, non-clinical member of the care team that provides services for patients with substance use disorder (SUD). The overall goal is to engage with patients, utilize harm reduction techniques to address any stage of readiness, provide resources, and help them address barriers as they work towards their goals.

Essential Functions
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and address barriers to patient care plans.
-Facilitate connections across systems of care, including the recovery community, community-based supports, the addiction treatment system, and the healthcare system.
-Engage with new patients to identify their needs and personal wellness goals.
-Be available to regularly engage with patients outside of scheduled medical appointments, including introducing them to recovery-oriented systems of care or meeting them in their community.
-Develop relationships with SUD-focused community groups/agencies and help patients access and navigate these resources.
-Attends and participates in care team meetings.
-Write brief, non-clinical notes in the patient's medical record.

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Recovery Coach [State Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred Certified Recovery Support Worker [CRSW - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Licensing for Alcohol & Other Drug Use Professionals preferred

Experience
Sustained recovery experience 2-3 years required and Experience working with people with substance use disorders 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients/families and staff, following principles of professional boundaries.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, both one-on-one and in group situations.
- Proficient in the use of office equipment and the computer, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain written records and reports.

Recovery Coach (Per Diem / Floater)

Position Summary
The Per Diem / Floater Recovery Coach (RC) is an essential, non-clinical member of the care team who will provide peer recovery support services to participants with substance use disorders (SUD). Unlike a site-specific RC, the Floater RC will work flexibly across MGH programs and sites-including the possibility of inpatient units, the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics including low threshold Bridge Clinic, the community, adolescent services, pregnant and parenting programs, and community health centers in Charlestown, Revere, Chelsea, and the Internal Medicine Associates (IMA).

This position is designed to support coverage needs related to vacancies, leaves, or surges in demand. The Floater RC helps ensure that patients and families consistently have access to recovery-oriented peer support regardless of staffing fluctuations.

The RC assists participants in achieving and sustaining recovery, facilitates access to recovery-oriented systems of care, and bridges across fragmented treatment systems into a more holistic care model. They serve as motivator, ally, role model, and advocate, providing individualized and person-centered support without judgment, expectation, or requirements.

This is a per diem role with variable hours based on program needs. Candidates must be able to travel between MGH's main campus, outpatient sites, and community-based programs as assigned.

Schedule
* Per diem, variable hours.
* Assignments may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on program coverage needs.
* Based on program demand, the Floater RC may be scheduled at short notice.
