What You Will Do

  • Reviews financial data streams for all health plans (in the aggregate and per-plan) using SQL and develops standardized analytics and automated reporting mechanisms for health plan utilization figures and provider network expenses; assists with drafting of cost accounting and regulatory reports for CMS and NYS DOH & DOI.
  • Reviews and files Stop-Loss claims for NYS DOH Medicaid managed care plans; reconciles plan claims data with DOH encounters data on eligible claims.
  • Coordinates financial data collection across health plans to ensure consistent use of nomenclature, metrics, business rules and documentation methodology.
  • Reviews data for sources of error and discrepancy to ensure data integrity and accuracy for compilation of Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Operating Reports, Medicaid Advantage Plus Operating Reports, Mainstream Medicaid Operating Reports, and Special Needs Plan Operating Reports to NYS DOH & DOI.
  • Reviews entries posted in the general ledger and compares to ledgers from prior months and/or quarters to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. Researches and reconciles discrepancies as directed. Identifies process improvements and controls necessary to avert discrepancies.
  • Communicates with Finance, BIA, IT, and other departments to ensure that the underlying cost data shown in reports and used in analysis of health plan performance is complete, consistent, accurate, and validated.
  • Communicates with Government Affairs, regulators, and other third parties to keep abreast of impending changes in required provider cost, regulatory and encounters data reporting; ensures that VNS Health financial data systems, dashboards, and reports reflect any such changes.
  • Updates data collection and analytical tools to reflect financial issues which may impact VNS Health Plans capitation rates (e.g., patient health risks, provider financial risks); recommends reporting strategies to limit future exposure.
  • Participates in the annual reconciliation between regulatory and certified reports.
  • Participated in the data collection and analysis for P&L and financial statements.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline required
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years accounting or finance experience required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Coding, data manipulation and data analysis skills in a standard financial and actuarial programming language such as SQL, SAS, Python or R required
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel required
  • Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of the principles of finance and accounting required
  • Minimum one year of experience using Snowflake, Python and SAS required

Pay Range

USD $85,000.00 - USD $106,300.00 /Yr.
