The primary duties of this role include responsibility for Construction Administration, Construction Management, Project Controls, inspection staff supervision, and quality control. This is a senior and key level position to support the continued growth and development of HDR's Construction Field Services program in Arizona and New Mexico. Key duties of this position include, but not limited to, business development, strategic planning, staffing, project and department financials, training, and QA oversight. In addition, this person will serve as a Project/Construction Manager/Resident Engineer on projects such as program management and construction engineering. The individual will serve as client manager and work as part of the team in establishing client relations.
In the role of AZ/NM Area Construction Field Services Manager, we'll count on you to:
- Promote an environment of the highest quality, safety and performance
- Collaborate with key leaders within the Area to develop strategies to support client requirements for providing
construction services - Develop a plan to expand available resources to be responsive to anticipated construction management programs
- Participate in recruiting and hiring
- Develop approach for executing construction services activities and implementation in coordination with the project teams
- Administer and manage construction services and inspection activities
- Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews sessions
- Coordinate local bidding efforts for quotes obtained in the field
- Develop or review scope, schedule and budget for pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases
- Supervise and mentor leaders within the program
- Coordinate and collaborate with laboratory testing companies to perform required materials testing services
- Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract agreements
- Coordinate and manage project quality assurance and control
- Responsible for subcontractor coordination, scheduling and quality control
- Coordinate, expedite and review construction submittals
- Control the departement and projects budget and schedule for construction services
- Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, and daily, weekly, and monthly progress, budget, and schedule management reports
- Coordinate local pursuit efforts Coordinate with Area Business Development leads and assist with proposal preparation and client interactions
- Drive growth and diversified client base to include local municipalities and transit agencies and offered added services.
- Mentor and coach the team allowing for technical learning, career and leadership developments, and implemented effective succession planning processes.
- Balance investment and strategic hires with budget constraints and ongoing and planned workload
- Lead the development of the department budget, participated in the budgeting process, and is responsible for implementation of established goals and plan.
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) within Arizona is required. The expectation is for the candidate to expeditiously obtain the New Mexico PE within 6-months. Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Project Management Professional (PMP) Experience with ADOT projects required Experience with MCDOT and New Mexico DOT preferred Appropriate construction or design certifications

- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- Outstanding leadership, communication and team-building skills
- Experienced in management and development of diverse teams
- Work cooperatively with company operations managers, business group and technical directors and marketing managers on departmental efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and promoting HDR values
